Within the last two years we have been negatively impacted with the virus Covid-19. As the virus tends to mutate and form new forms, the human collective is also forming preventions as we learn about the virus. Recently, scientists have learned that Cannabidiol inhibits SARS-CoV-2 replication. Let me break this down a bit more so it's easier to understand.
SARS-CoV-2 is responsible for COVID-19. Covid can enter your body through your respiratory system. Coronaviruses are enveloped positive-stranded RNA viruses. The virus will replicate in a hosts cells cytoplasm thus allowing the virus to release its genetics into the healthy cells. Once this happens a 'blueprint' is formed and the virus begins to mutate and overtake the body.
With that being said, a new study; lead by researchers at the University of Chicago, has found that CBD can block SARS-Cov-2 infection at early and even later stages of infection. After the study results were released, Martha Rosner; lead professor of cancer studies at the University of Chicago, was interviewed and said "... bottom line, what this says is that CBD has the potential to prevent infections, such as breakthrough infections, which might be one of the most useful applications,”. However, this study was done in human cells and in mice — not humans.
Overall, Cannabidiol (CBD) has the potential freeze the covid-19 virus from replicating. This study is proving great hope for future studies to come.
